In what year did you begin working in the real estate industry as a REALTOR®?

Why do you like working in the real estate industry?
“I enjoy learning what is important to people and the challenge of finding a solution that fits their needs—whether it's buying, selling or investing. Real estate is not about a transaction, but about developing a lasting relationship. I have lived in Manhattan, Miami, San Francisco, Seattle and Tokyo, and I believe this offers me the opportunity to relate to a wide variety of clients. I enjoy learning about clients' experiences and backgrounds.”

In what year did you become affiliated with Semonin Realtors®?

Why do you choose to affiliate your business with Semonin?
“Semonin's core values align with my values. The agents at Semonin are collaborative and community focused, and they have a strong work ethic. As the largest broker in the region and as part of a larger national network, Semonin provides sellers the most exposure for their listings. With our large network locally, we give buyers the opportunity to find out about properties before they come to market.”

What do you do to stay up-to-date/knowledgeable about the real estate industry?
“Education is very important to me, and it’s one way I add value for my clients. I take advantage of classes and workshops offered but Semonin and GLAR (Greater Louisville Association of Realtors), and I keep up on industry news through national and local real estate publications. I also participate in the Real Estate Investors Meetup of Louisville, which has more than 1,000 members.”

What did you do before you began working in real estate?
“I have a varied professional past, ranging from small business owner to residential mortgage financing, from hospitality to luxury retail. All the fields I have worked in have been focused on three areas: customer relationship management, business development and strong customer service. I believe these are critical for a REALTOR®, as well.”

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
“I spend a lot of time with my in-laws and extended family. I also love to cook, travel and try different things.”

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
“If you don't want anyone to know, don't do it.”

What is your favorite book/type of book? Why?
“I love historical fiction because it often allows you to read about a historical event from a personal perspective. This makes it more interesting and provides a relatable context to better understand the event.”

What is your favorite movie/type of movie?
“I like action movies. I enjoy the fast pace and the special effects.”

What is your favorite song/type of music? “I like a wide variety of music; just about everything.”

If you could wave a magic wand, what one thing would you most like to change in the world?
“I think income inequality is big issue. People should be rewarded for their efforts, especially military families and school educators. There's so much more we can do for these people who protect our country and help us raise our kids.”

What are two or three items on your Bucket List?
“Travel to Machu Picchu and the Galapagos. Be the top REALTOR® at Semonin. See my kids graduate from college.”

If you could have dinner with anyone, living or deceased, who would it be?
“Franklin Roosevelt. FDR led the country through the Great Depression and WWII. His government formed the FDIC. He championed environmental causes, created Social Security and a national minimum wage. He began to implement policies to ban workplace discrimination, and he was instrumental in forming the United Nations. He was elected President four times. I’d be curious to hear from him how he did it all.”

What is your favorite word?
“’Sounds good.’ It's affirming, promising and encouraging.”

What is your least favorite word?
“’Can't.’ It's a non-starter, it sounds defeatist and it's very limiting.”

Do you have a motto/words to live by?
“You can’t change the past.”

Do you have a favorite quote? If yes, what is it?
“The Japanese proverb: ‘Fall down seven times, stand up eight.’”
